About me

Hi, my name is Maaike Elizabeth Nahuis-Krijgsheld and I am 48 years old. My husband Koen and I have 4 children: Merel (24), Malou (22), Fábio (20) and Tiago (18). I am a primary school teacher and currently in between jobs.

When my children were still young (16 years ago) they were sometimes receiving toys that would break within a week. This was highly frustrating for me; why on earth were we humans producing toys like that? 

My idea to make a website for sustainable goods was then born. The idea stuck in my head for all these years until I found a good way of selling highly quality goods. 

My dream is to have many websites for good quality goods; but my American Girl doll website is the first to be launched! 

Being a doll person since I was a little girl, it is easy for me to absolutely adore the American Girl dolls and all their clothes and accessories.

I got my first doll a 'Holly Hobbie' when I was four, it was followed by my very precious doll 'Pauline' (named after my cousin who was just born at that time) which I got for my eight birthday. When I was 10, I wanted a doll that just looked like a real baby, and I had to save up my money for a long time, before I could finally buy Joey, my doll that looked like a real baby-boy.

My daughter got her first American Girl, Josefina, when she was nine years old, which followed by many more American Girl dolls, clothes and accessories and now being an adult herself she is still collecting. As I am a teacher, I wanted to show one of my daughter’s dolls to my class, but she wouldn’t let me as they were too precious for her. Therefore, I tried to find my own American Girl doll online to take to my class. When I found one, I thought how nice it would be to have a second-hand online shop for these dolls and all their items and accessories. This idea linked in perfectly with my idea from 16 years ago and together with my brother-in-law, Hans I was able to set up this web-shop in Shopify.
